03.28.08: Hi folks! All right. I just wanted to say I'm really sorry for the lack of communication on all fronts. You know when everything goes wrong at the same time? That's how the past few weeks have been. Email account(s) not working properly, problems with paypal, powermac will not turn on, etc. Phew! That being said, I'm so very happy to say that all orders have been shipped off finally. There were incredible delays with the Daturah vinyl and I just got my 200 copies yesterday after placing the order months ago. They look and sound rad though! Plus I still have several coloured copies left if anyone wants em. Many thanks to Pitchforkmedia.com for writing about the Black Moth Super Rainbow vinyl that came out on March 11th. Because of them I have been to the post office more than I've ever been in my life. There are about 50 copies of the coloured left. Please be patient with me! I am but one man with many-a-customer and 38 handmade releases. When I get some breathing room, I'm going to do the drawing for the test pressings. All Daturah, BMSR, and Kid Dakota lp orders will be in the running for them. Hoot! Hopefully I'll see you Chicago folks at the Black Moth show tomorrow. It has been too long. There are many things a-happening round these parts. For example, this weekend the preorders for the ExAir, Power Pill Fist, and Kid Dakota cds go on sale. Those who order before the release dates will get some seriously fucked up stuff in the mail as well as cheaper prices. Preorderers will get the cds for $2 cheaper. ExAir and PPF hit stores on Feb 26th so your preorder will ship on Feb 1st and Kid Dakota hits the stores on March 25th so your preorders will ship on Feb 15th. For one, I have lowered all the prices in the store by two dollars for each item. Basically making it free shipping. This will only last through this month and is only available to our US customers. I would make it world-wide but shipping is so damn expensive now! Also, an old distro sent back a few copies of the out-of-print vinyl for Black Moth Super Rainbow's 'Lost Picking Flowers in the Woods'. So go pick them up! Speaking of them, they are up for a PLUG award this year. Please go and vote for them: here. You could also be so kind as to write in Graveface as best label. And whilst you are voting, please go here and vote for the Experimental Aircraft video. It is up for an METV award. We also have several releases planned for the first quarter of 08. 10.1.07: It's finally October! The only month that means anything to this guy. Next tuesday you'll be able to find the new lps from Art in Manila and Laura Gibson in stores and on the 23rd, the two BMSR reissues. Exciting! Speaking of BMSR, I just got home from their tour with the Flaming Lips and it was tremendous. Thanks to everyone who was so nice to us! In other news, on October 26th and 27th are the very first Graveface showcases in this fair city of Chicago. We encourage you to come in costume as there are many prizes and treats for those that have any Halloween spirit. We will be transforming the Abbey Pub into something quite scary. Firstly, I'm sure you have already heard the big news but perhaps one of the greatest bands of all time, The Flaming Lips, have asked Black Moth Super Rainbow to go on tour with them. Check the dates on the tour page.Also, the first ever Graveface Records Chicago showcase has been scheduled for the 26th and 27th of October with appleseed cast, octopus project and dreamend. We have a bunch of new releases that are coming really soon. First, we have the new repress from the Appleseed Cast called "Mare Vitalis". It is 2xlp and is completely different artwork with some rad coloured slabs of vinyl. Then we have the lp of the debut from Art in Manila. Following that will be the vinyl version of "If you come to Greet Me" by Laura Gibson containing one new track. We will be releasing the latest album from the amazingly brilliant Laura Gibson on vinyl in a few months. The record is called "if you come to greet me" and was released a few months back on HUSH. I wanted to buy it on vinyl but yet this vinyl didn't exist so I'm making it exist! The vinyl version comes with a bonus track not on the CD and full lyrics. Also figured out this week is we will be releasing the debut album from Art In Manila in August on vinyl. Saddle Creek is putting out the cd. Art in Manila is the new band featuring the most amazing voice ever, Orenda Fink(Azure Ray). I weep like a baby to this album and hope you do as well. Sheesh. It has been a busy week. Things have been stupid busy with the new releases and SXSW which, by the way, was an amazing time. Thanks so much for all the support. Pitchfork wrote about ExAir and the Chicago Tribune/NY Times/MTVnews.com among others wrote about Black Moth. Nice! It was totally unexpected and incredibly appreciated. Speaking of Black Moth, their new album can be found in all stores across the country on May 22nd. Here is the complete Graveface release schedule for the next few months. May 22nd - "Dandelion Gum" by Black Moth Super Rainbow (cd now, vinyl over the summer) June 5th - "Tuned to Love" by The Loose Salute (cd now, vinyl over the summer) All of these will be available for preorder starting next week. Preorder customers will receive their item way before they are in stores and come with something totally rad. If you want just the cd or vinyl, you'll have to wait till the preorder expires. For example, the new BMSR preorder will be $20 and will come with a tee shirt only available here. Tuned to Love will also be $20 and also comes with an exclusive tee shirt. LLO V 1 & 2 will be $30 and will also come with an exclusive tee shirt. And finally, the split vinyl will be $15 and the first x amount of orders will come with a DVD of the performance from these two together from SXSW a few weeks back. Yum! 02.03.07: Hello folks! Much news to report once again. For one, we are releasing most of The Appleseed Cast's back catalogue on coloured vinyl this year. Coming first, Low Level Owl Volumes 1 and 2 on 3xlp. Each lp is a different colour! Then we'll be doing Mare Vitalis on 2xlp. And to close we'll be doing Two Conversations on 2xlp as well. Phew! That's gonna be awesome!!! In a few days I'll have the release dates for the new Black Moth Super Rainbow epic "Dandelion Gum", The Loose Salute's debut album "Tuned To Love" and the US debut album from Jakob called "Solace". These 3 albums will destroy your life...in a good way of course. Also in the news, the amazing split between The Octopus Project and Black Moth Super Rainbow debuted at # 22 and peaked at #18 on the CMJ top 200 charts! Our first but certainly not last top 20 album! Thanks to everyone for requesting it and to the stations for playing it. Please call your local college station and request it still though. It is greatly appreciated. In show news, Graveface has been invited to have our very first SXSW showcase. It is taking place on March 14th @ the blender balcony @ the ritz. It will be a split label showcase with the awesome Peek A Boo records. The lineup will be Power Pill Fist, Black Moth, Dreamend, Experimental Aircraft, Peel, and Palaxy Tracks. Yay! On friday the 16th, at Bella Blue, we will be having a day showcase starting at noon. That is also with Peek A Boo and will be the same lineup plus Hopewell. It is free and all ages so please come on out. I will try and have some cupcakes made. AND, last but not least, at Fanatic's(our PR company)showcase on saturday the 17th, will be Octopus Project and Black Moth playing as one band! They will be playing the split. 12.12.06: Happy holidays folks! I just wanted to drop a note and say thanks so much for making 2006 the greatest year in the short history of the label. Expect 2007 to be much more insane. That said, I have a bit of an announcement to make. Graveface Records has just signed to the legendary Southern Records for our distribution! This has always been a dream of ours so we are quite thrilled of course. The first album they will have their paws in will be 'Dandelion Gum' from Black Moth due out on April 17th. Other releases to come in the first half of 07 are the vinyl version of the split between bmsr and octopus project, the new power pill fist album, the US debut from Jakob, Experimental Aircraft's first album in many years, dreamend's first lp in 2 years, Daturah's second full length, and the debut album from Mojave Three-ers The Loose Salute! Sheesh! And that's only in the first few months. So starting in January you should be able to find our releases at every single record store in the country. Finally!
